Hey everyone,
Here is the first of my corny trip story (I hate the word blog).
Left the Kenney's house after watching the first 6 laps or so of Colin's race. I hope the rest of the race goes better for him! It didn't - sorry Colin (Ed)
This day seemed so long even though we kept busy all day. Anyways sitting at the gate we had no problems at check in or security actually really smooth and nice people to deal with.
I am pretty excited about going over there especially the plane ride - not! Flying on a 747 is new for me, so that is going to be cool but the 7 hours and 50 miniutes is going to be painful. I know Ross will say "try flying 13 hours with the death flu" right? Ross went to China last winter to coach. He got really sick while he was there and it took him a while to get better. Fortunately not SARS or bird flu or anything....(Ed)
Sitting here looking at the plane through the gate window I have no idea how this thing will fly - it's huge. I am going to be conquering one of my fears in life and that is flying over the ocean. Seeing that I can't swim - this thing better stay up in the air! I have always thought about the flight over water and it has always made me nervous. Right. Like you're going to swim away from a crash in the water... Don't worry buddy, swimming won't help you. "In the event of a Water Landing...." Ha! Who needs life jackets. (Ed)
5:20pm
Still sitting at the gate. The boarding has been delayed (hopefully to load the life jackets on board). They say that the flight will arrive on time as they have a short flight time today. I hope they are talking hours and not minutes here.
5:45pm
Just got my seat - WOW this plane is huge. An aisle seat in the middle row 3 rows from the back of the plane.
I am surrounded by large family. The lady next to me has a 3 (or so) year old kid that is out of control already - boy this is going to be fun! I swear there is only 1 kid on this flight and it is next to me.
Awesome. They just asked me to switch seats to the one behind so thew whole family could sit together so now I am further away from the devil child.
Well that is about it for now - we are pushing back now. I will send the next installment from our hotel in Berlin.
Gord
Having narrowly escaped the screaming kid, they're on their way - life jackets in hand. I'll warn Berlin they're coming. (Ed)
